Goodbye summer! The late summer sunshine has darkened the greens outside my studio windows and there’s a feeling of autumn in the air. I love doll making in the months leading up to the end of the year holidays. It’s fun to see all of the wooly children on social media and imagine the hugs that they will receive from their new families. Such a magical time of the year, but aren’t they all, in their own way? I am grateful for the changing seasons!

What a delightful time we’ve had bringing little Kristen into the world! Little one asked sweetly for a pink dress and I was happy to sew one just for her. I resized my pinafore dress pattern slightly, as she is a bit larger (18 inches tall) and heavier (one pound, 4 ounces) than most of my dolls. Rosy pink corduroy is perfect for cooler days and is just right over her ivory, cotton pointelle shirt. I’ve been working on a tee shirt that doesn’t rely on elastic around the neckline and ribbing came to the rescue! Thank you, Fabs! Hand sewn metal snaps allow Kristen to be dressed and undressed with ease. Under her dress and tee, she wears organic cotton, pink and white striped panties and socks. To stay warm and cozy, she has a knitted sweater and booties, made with Malabrigo Mecha in the beautiful “Rosalinda” colorway.

Kristen is made with premium DeWitte Engel doll jersey in the shade “103” and is stuffed with cleaned and carded Canadian wool. Her hair is DollyMo wooly mohair, which I’ve crocheted into a fluffy cap. Her facial features are stitched with DMC cotton floss and Kristen’s cheeks are blushed with Stockmar beeswax crayon No. 1. Welcome to the world, dear wooly child!

If you would like to give Kristen a home, she can be found here:

My gratitude to Barrie (Meadowfinch) for her Chickadee doll pattern, Maria (Mariengold) for the sweater pattern and Winter (Winterludes) for the booties pattern and also for their kind permission to use them for my wooly children. Also, gratitude to Fabiola (Fig & Me) for her delightful Patreon tutorials!

Thank you so much for reading about sweet Kristen. I hope that her little smile puts a smile on your face too! Have a delightful day, friends!

Love and wooly hugs,
