Charlotte’s New Socks

Charlotte and I have had such a fun time! We had planned for her to have a warm sweater for these snowy days that we’ve been having but when she saw the sweater, she insisted that she also have hand knitted (and very tiny) socks. I calmly explained to her that I had never made socks this tiny before and I wasn’t sure that I would be able to do that so we should make her some soft cotton fabric socks. She was having none of that! She calmly explained to me that creating a wee sock pattern was on my “To Do” list and now was as good a time as any to give it a try. Well, she was right of course, and her socks are adorable and we’re both very happy with them. I’m sure that more wooly children with wee socks will be on the way in the future. I just can never refuse them!

The materials that I’ve used to create sweet Charlotte are as follows: Laib Yala doll skin fabric, in “Tanned Peach” from Switzerland and cleaned and carded wool from Canada. Her hair is made with a crocheted wig cap using Wild Brushable mohair yarn and then strands are added all over the cap, rug hook style. Charlotte’s hair may be gently styled and finger combed. I have used DMC cotton floss for the face stitches and Gutermann thread for the sewing of the doll and the clothing. Her cheeks are lightly blushed with Stockmar beeswax crayon No. 1.

Charlotte is wearing wee pink panties under her soft blue leggings and creamy tee shirt. Over her organic knit basics, she has an adorable soft blue corduroy overall dress with Liberty print bodice lining and wooden flower buttons covering metal snaps. To keep Charlotte warm in cooler weather, she has a rosy pink, woolen hand knit sweater and medium brown, worsted merino crochet shoes over her wee silk/merino socks. She also has an organic, pink striped headband to accessorize her long hair.

Thank you so much for your interest in sweet little Charlotte! We’ve had such fun together over the last couple of chilly weeks and we’re both excited for her to find her new home! Here in the studio, the dolly shenanigans will continue with a sweet new wooly child to show you soon. She’s finished but we’re working on her new clothes and such. Stay cosy and have a lovely day, dear friends!

Love and wooly hugs,

Shawn and Charlotte
